I first began blogging a couple years ago as means to write and express the important things in my life. It was an online journal for me as I wrote about emotions, life, spirituality, and travels. I could write my thoughts, publish, and access my writings whenever and wherever I wanted. I hope that going forth, I can continue to keep that heart and soul of my blog alive, this time with a slightly larger audience.
Some niches of mine include travel, happiness, and faith. I also write about relationships, referencing the long-distance relationship that I am in now. Psychology and culture are deep academic interests of mine, so expect writings (or at least influences) from these disciplines.
At this point, I can’t really pinpoint an exact route in this blog, but I can say that it will be a direct reflections of the things important to my life. I don’t want to confine my thoughts or writings to one niche. Rather, I’d like to freely express and create. Give out honest and vulnerable thoughts. And connect with the world around me. So I guess the goal of this is for people to get to understand themselves better, while getting to intimately know me.
How did you choose the name “Mantras of a Wanderer”?
Honestly, I chose the name because the words looked and sounded pretty. I suck at naming things, so this was the first thing I was happy to put into the glaring “choose a blog name and domain now” box. Beyond that, however, I chose “Mantras of a Wanderer” because I feel that all of my posts are written in the themes of love, and exploration. These are my mantras as I navigate my way through life. I desire to simply wander and let life take me where it wants me to go.
Tell us a bit about yourself, Mara.
My name is Mara. I’m a few months short of my 21st birthday. I’m currently studying Psychology and Spanish in Central Wisconsin. I’ve traveled a bit throughout South America and Europe, and the more I travel, the more I keep wanting to do it. Brazil, Croatia, and New Zealand top my list of desired places to visit.
I love love love organizing and planning. Planning something as a cure for boredom or writing a list of lists to make are not uncommon in my world. I enjoy poetry, new journals, coffee shops, and quality time with close friends. I’m an extroverted introvert, if that’s what you want to label me as.
I’ve considered myself a Christian for my entire life, but it wasn’t until two years ago when I understood what that meant and when I entered into a personal relationship with Christ. I was at a place of a lot of sin and brokenness, and I was in need of a Savior. It has been such a sweet, sweet journey of redemption and healing. Expect writings to weave in and out of aspects of this spiritual journey.
That’s a bit about me. If you want to get to know me more or if you want to tell me about yourself, please do. 🙂
What’s next, Mara?
Good question! I graduate in May (time flies, right?!). I will be interning with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) in Bratislava, Slovakia this upcoming year! I’m really excited. Not really sure what will be next, but I’m ready to serve the Lord and connect with high school and college students in Slovakia.
Do you do any affiliate blogging? Who are your affiliate partners?
Yes! I can say that the intent of this blog is not to advertise, advertise, advertise or even earn money for that matter. Whatever products/websites you see mentioned are ones that I would (and have been mentioning) even before becoming an affiliate. These are some companies and brands that I genuinely enjoy so much that I want to represent them in a formal partnership. I affiliate blog for:
If you have any questions about my use of affiliate blogging, or if you would like me to represent your own brand or website, please contact me. I would love to talk.
Let’s be friends!
Seriously though. I love meeting and connecting with people! I don’t desire to be some distant writer, creating content simply to gather up as many reads as possible. No, I genuinely desire for people to find some aspect of me or my writing that resonates with them. I want this to be an environment of adventure, openness, and growth. I want this to be interactive and intentional. Stories are special to me, whether it’s writing my own or reading those of others. So if you’re ever in the mood for a conversation, I’m here to talk and listen!
